We Get to Know

We Get to Know is a media company specializing in podcast creation, original & shared content, and short form interviews. We are interviewing your favorite creatives, innovators, business owners, influencers and bloggers from a variety of industries.

For years we have all been following some of the most inspiring people through various creative mediums and our social media platforms. We are looking to connect and be inspired. We try new recipes, we look for style inspirations, or maybe even design an entirely new kitchen on ideas we see and share through these cultivators. These ideas are what sparked the inspiration for We Get to Know.

Have you ever craved knowing just a little bit more about their personal stories and favorite things? We can answer that question with a definitive YES. To satisfy this craving we have launched our podcast, We Get to Know. We chat with your favorite people and influencers from a variety of fields including health food + wellness, design, fitness, travel, fashion, entertainment and comedy; truly the topics are endless.

Our newest project is a short form interview series called, 13 Questions by We Get to Know, featuring creatives, artist and interesting people that indulge our curiosity and chat about their upcoming projects.

We will be tossing an array of questions to our guests in a unique, energetic and entertaining Q&A format. We are excited to share their conversations and responses with all of you.

    Ryan & Adam: Husbands that Cook - Cookbook Authors, Vegetarian Recipes, Entertaining & World Travel

    We Get to Know the Husbands that Cook authors and food bloggers Ryan and Adam.

    We enjoyed chatting with Ryan and Adam, the guys behind husbandsthatcook.com. They met back in 2001 in a recording studio where Ryan was singing with a jazz choir and Adam was the engineer. They fell in love and have been cooking together in their small California kitchen ever since. Both Ryan and Adam are creatives, they are both musicians and Ryan is an actor popping up in some of our favorite shows. They began their blog back in 2015 and quickly saw success. They were finalists for Saveur magazine’s Best How-To Cooking Blog Award (2016) and a Taste Talks Awards Nominee for Best Food Blog (2017).

    In this episode, we discuss the start of their blog, their cookbook writing experience, how they met, and some of their favorite recipes along with the touching stories behind them. Their very first cookbook has just released and it’s called Husbands That Cook: More than 120 Irresistible recipes and tales from our tiny kitchen.     We Get to Know friends, cooks and business owners Natalie & Holly from The Modern Proper.

    We were absolutely thrilled to chat with Natalie and Holly, the ladies behind the widely loved food blog; The Modern Proper. While walking a trail in the Pacific Northwest, these two friends dreamed up an idea to start a food blog that would reinvent the idea of hospitality for the modern homemaker. Their recipes are inspired by local, seasonal ingredients, made from scratch, and either created by themselves or adapted from recipes that have inspired them. Their food is gorgeous, approachable, and all the things we want to eat. With their shared love for food, creating, and hosting—they inspire the seasoned cook and novice alike. They inspire us to rediscover hospitality by opening up our homes and tables to gather, cook, and share life with one another.

    In this episode we discuss the genesis of their blog, how and why hospitality is the cornerstone of their work, plus how they balance life and work while raising their families. We discuss intermittent fasting, the four pivotal moments in their career thus far, and what they envision for their future.     We Get to Know baker and photographer Jenn Davis from Two Cups Flour.

    We enjoyed our talk with Jenn, the food photographer and baking blogger behind Two Cups Flour. Jenn is based in Nashville, TN and a true southern girl through and through. With a great love of animals and a degree in animal science, Jenn thought she would become a veterinarian but she had a growing passion to uncover an artistic outlet for her creative side. She spends her time playing with dogs, working in the garden, and trying new recipes.

    In this episode Jenn tells the story of how she turned her creative passions into her profession and took the leap to follow her heart. She describes her great love of baking and how her photography skills gave her a leg up once she took the plunge. Her instagram feed will make your mouth water and have you running to the kitchen to make a batch of her double chocolate chai cookies.     Erin Jensen: The Wooden Skillet - Real Food, Healthy Living, Recipes (Whole30, Paleo, Vegan)

    We Get to Know photographer, recipe developer and creative content creator Erin Jensen from The Wooden Skillet.

    We were thrilled to chat with Erin, the photographer, food stylist, recipe developer and content creator behind The Wooden Skillet. After practicing law for 7 years, Erin was recently able to leave her 9-5 job in order to blog full-time. This is a testament to the success of her website and her passion for healthy and delicious food. Before blogging she suffered with gut troubles for years and eventually stumbled upon Whole30. Like many of us, she quickly learned how much better she could feel and has embarked on a truly life-changing journey towards improved health. Her website is a fantastic resource, offering approachable and delicious recipes, most of which are Whole30-compliant, diary-free, vegan, or paleo.

    In this episode, we dig into her huge decision of leaving her legal career behind to follow her passion full-time. She tells us about her love of cold brew and why it's a great option for people who have acid stomach issues. Plus, she gets real about the struggle of balancing motherhood and work.     We Get to Know interior stylist and designer Anissa Zajac of HOUSE SEVEN design + build.

    We were thrilled to chat with Anissa, the woman behind home design firm and blog HOUSE SEVEN design + build. Anissa has always had a love for all things design. From a young age on any given day you could find her spending hours decorating her dollhouse with homemade curtains and wallpaper or scouring antique shops with her mother.

    HOUSE SEVEN design + build is an interior styling and residential remodeling company that focuses on creating functional and beautiful spaces utilizing a modern rustic farmhouse design. Whether it is an entire home or small business, they are decimated to working with their clients to create comfortable spaces that can be enjoyed by everyone. One look at their portfolio and like us, you'll want to hire them immediately.

    On this episode we discuss how they got started in their business and how following the purchase of her and her husband Brian's seventh home, she began a little blog about home design and DIY’s that quickly gained a following. Eventually, they took a leap of faith and turned it into a successful design and remodeling business. We were completely inspired by their story.     We were thrilled to talk with Marisa, a nationally recognized registered dietitian nutritionist. She’s worked as an outpatient dietitian, corporate nutritionist for a restaurant chain, and managed the wellness program at the CDC. Her practical approach to providing simple, mostly healthy recipes coupled with science-based nutrition advice is regularly featured in the nation’s leading media outlets - everything from the Dr. Oz Show & The Today Show as well as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Refinery 29 and Well+Good just to name a few.

We were blown away by her ambition and passion to live life to the absolute fullest. You may be wondering how someone accomplishes so much.     We Get to Know vegetarian food blogger and cookbook author Jeanine Donofrio from Love & Lemons.

    We were absolutely thrilled to speak with Jeanine, the creator of one of our very favorite food blogs: loveandlemons.com. Additionally, she is the author of the bestselling Love & Lemons Cookbook, which the New York Times described as "Happiness itself tossed into every bowl”. Jeanine is best known for her bright, vegetable-packed recipes, stunning photography, and creative design visuals that inspire people to have fun in the kitchen. She has been featured in People, O:The Oprah Magazine, Self, and Shape Magazine, among others. She and her husband, Jack, cook and photograph from their home in Chicago while their two Shiba pups help clean up the kale stems that fall on the kitchen floor.

    In this episode, Jeanine tells about her path to becoming a food blogger after her career in graphic design. She shares how her husband Jack is now her full time partner in Love & Lemons and how that evolved over the years. We get to hear a cute story of an Italian dog with a lemon and how that played a role in their blog name. We chat about the process of writing her new cookbook Love & Lemons Every Day which is coming out on April 2nd and is available for pre-order now.     We Get to Know sweet treat baker Kristie Pryor from The Sweet & Simple Kitchen.

    Kristie grew up running around with her 3 brothers in the beautiful Fraser Valley of British Columbia, Canada. Most of her precious childhood memories center around fresh, homemade, delicious food - particularly sweet treats. Her mom and grandmother were both incredible cooks and bakers which is where her passion comes from. A few years ago when she was in desperate need of an outlet for her pent up creative energy, she began baking her mom’s old recipes and creating new ones on her own. Eventually, she started her blog as a place to document her work and recipes.     Lex Daddio: Restoring Radiance - Intuitive Eating, Overcoming Disordered & Binge Eating

    We Get to Know blogger Lex Daddio from Restoring Radiance.

    Lex is the woman behind the successful food blog restoreyourradiance.com. She lives in Richmond, VA and is a wife and mom to her son T. Lex suffered for years with a binge eating disorder. She started a private Instagram account as a personal food and exercise journal for accountability that ended up going public by accident. She decided to keep it public and over the last 4 years, so much has changed. She has officially overcome her eating disorder through a lot of hard work and prayer and is passionate about helping others overcome this struggle in their own lives.

    In this episode we dive into all the details of her story and were inspired by her wisdom and optimism. Currently, Lex is studying to be an Intuitive Eating counselor to help others ditch the diet and find food freedom like she has. Her husband has played a huge role in her healing journey, and now they enjoy cooking together in the kitchen. They make easy, attainable, yet super delicious recipes using real ingredients.
